Australian MotoGP rider Casey Stoner will undergo a series of medical tests in the United States to try and determine the cause of a mystery illness that has left him feeling fatigued.
Stoner has been suffering from the problem for the last month and is now seeking medical help after feeling dizzy at the end of Sunday's US MotoGP in California.
"I didn't feel as bad at the end of the race as I have done in the last two, but I'm still not right," he said.
"I found it really difficult to keep my concentration over the last few laps and I was in a bit of a daze by the end."
The 23-year-old Stoner said he was also experiencing recurring problems with his left wrist, which he broke in 2003 but needed additional surgery last year because it never healed properly.
"My left arm was feeling really tired by the end because of the fact there are so many left-handers here and my left wrist still doesn't have the full range of movement after my operation in the winter," he said.
"Now we'll focus on trying to find out the root of the problem because racing in this condition is not much fun."
Stoner won the world championship on a Ducati in 2007 and was second to Valentino Rossi last year but is currently in third place this season after missing out on the podium at the US MotoGP.
"I can't be happy with fourth place, even though I know that we have performed some damage limitation in terms of the overall standings," he said. "It's a weekend to forget."

dadivorman youre pretty much fail on every count mate, from my memory this season lorenzo has been put in his place by rossi on more than one occasion. unless you have zero memory capacity?
Furthermore why do you think lorenzo had 2 crashes in practise at leguna? could it be because he is so desperate to keep pace with valentino? or let me guess in your opinion he was just unlucky..? LOL AT YOU.
as for stoner.....ROFL.
Must be that woman of his. He is only a little guy probably with a little thing and has to work twice as hard to get to that finish line as well! poor guy
Ultimatelt we need everyone fit and well. If Stoner and Lorenzo are both back to their best, Pderosa can maintain his current form and Dovisioso can stay upright the Sachsenring race should be an absolute belter.
Is that the same foggy who moaned for most of his career? I think foggy the racer was awesome but god he could moan. Why not stop interviewing the riders, that would help cut out the moaning, and also turn off the cameras before Rossi starts his attention seeking after the races. GP is mostly boring because of the massive differences in machinery performance. If the bikes themsleves were closer in performance you would see much closer racing.
For all the people who think it's getting boring (I personally think it's heading that way) there is something exceptional they could do which may just produce the greatest racing of all time....
Put all riders from 125s 250s and moto GP into a KTM Red Bull Rookies cup style race. All riders on the same machinery with the same tyres supplied by dorna with one weekend to change the settings to their liking.
Epic racing will ensue, 125 riders may not have the skill and experience of the moto gp guys but that just means there'll be more battles through the field.
To all you Rossi haters!!!!!!!!
He will get his 9th title!!!! And Allyou will STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stoner by name...
You can't get away from it, not all, but certainly most of the races have been processional aside from some battles further down the field, occasionally at the poium places. We are only just starting to see a slight change in this with races getting a little more exciting. To comment we have some of the best MotoGPs on 800's ever, is to not watch the last 15/20 years of the sport. How can a processional race with a couple of good battles compare to a race where every single lap is a battle? I am a Rossi fan. I would never think to belittle the skills of Casey (who I don't particularly like) or any other racer. They are all amazingly good at their job, or they wouldnt be there and those that dont meet the grade lose their job. i know we should support our heros, like I do with Rossi but I would never ever think of belittling the skill of amazing riders. they are something else, whether you like them or not. And Rossi is a racer. Yes he works magic on two wheels (biased I know, but also based on fact :) ) BUT he would be one of the first to say he loves a good battle. You can tell the difference in how happy he seems on the podium when he has had to fight for his position. every racer wants the same a good, and well deserved win. A quick comment on the riders saving their tyres etc so it becomes more processional..I dont know why it is more processional now a days, but I am inclined to agree with Foggy, when he says that any rider who makes excuses they were saving their tyres is talking @#$%. He goes on to say every rider he knew who had the will and commitment to win rode at 100% 100% of the time(quote not exact but read his book 'Foggy, On Bikes' you'll see what I mean)
sounds like stoner got a bug like sheene did all them years ago ?
Stoner getting checked out is for the best and he and Lorenzo should hopefully be up to full capacity for the Sachsenring and with Dani back to his near best the next couple of races could be good. Also I think that this will probably be Rossi's last chance of winning the title as he's reaching a cross over point of riding talent between himself and Stoner and Lorenzo. The tracks that are coming up suit the Ducati and Stoner so if he's fit I think he'll win the title this year as it's still very close.
I can't believe what some idiots write here. did rossi win? no dani did. had it not been for lorenzo's injury and terrible start, rossi would never have dreamed of that 2nd position although he had the best machinery underneath him. the clown never gets sick, he fell off his bike numerous times but he always had the luck to walk away totally unharmed. stoner beat rossi fair and square on many occasions and he will repeat that sooner this season. the real danger, however, is coming from rossi's teammate. the guy is strong really strong and rossi's lovers know that. they also know that throughout this season the catalan rider could have beaten the clown on each and every race. If you have any doubts, wait and see.
The races in 800 c.c. are surely getting boring, especially after the fantastic last season of 990 c.c. machines in 2006. This year we could have seen some great races, but we were unlucky so far. The 3 top riders were rarely in their top form at the same day!
It is also nice to see riders like Hayden and Capirossi prgoressing, but it is still a very slow progression. I am sure that motoGP will reach again a level of high competition soon... Let's just hope that when it does, they won't change the rules again!!!
To say last few seasons are boring is totally idiotic.....some of the races from the last two seasons are generally regarded as greatest motogp races of all time.
what is that telling you?..........go watch F1!
boring......seriously what next lol.
I must be getting old ,but can anyone remember the late 70's when a certain Barry Sheene said that he was ill etc etc ,because Kenny Roberts and Pat Hennen were beating him.........mental illness they say now ......who knows eh?
has anybody thought about testing stoner for drug addiction, looks like he`s going through cold turkey, he shouldn`t ride if he`s not well, he is only putting the other riders in danger if he has an accident because he`s feeling dizzy he could take someone else off the track and maybe even kill them because of his selfishness.why isn`t the governing body stopping him from racing untill he feels better. NO paycheck is ever worth someone`s life, his or anyone`s else.
dawn g. i havent "dissed" rossi or anyone else. but i do find the last three years of moto gp boring. if you dont like my opinions fine, but you dont have to tell me or anyone else to stop whingeing. how can anyone say that a line of riders following one another is close action? i have ridden motorcycles all my life and taken part in quite a few races. i admire the skill that all the top riders have and the machinery they ride is incredible but its still processional racing. they all use the same strategies, and thats to save the tyre for later in the race. booooriiing. go flat out from lap one and make the tyres and bike work hard. it may not win a championship but its a hell of lot more exciting for the paying punters to watch. trouble is nowadays its a business first and a sport second much like any sport really. and by the way, i dont "diss" anyone for two reasons. 1, diss is a small town in norfolk and 2, i dont wear burberry hats and say that things are "phat" :-)
rossi will stall on the grid race over
I find it very difficult to constantly read about 'processional' racing and it's getting boring because someone is winning consistently. What is your problem? You can't just diss a sport because someone is a regular winner! Stoner, Pedrosa and co. have the machinery to take on Rossi, but when push comes to shove, they just haven't been able to better him. Casey Stoner ran away with the championship 2 seasons ago....... I don't recall people moaning that he was boring and processional? Give Rossi a break, guys......... he is an absolutely inspired racer, who is difficult to catch..... stop whinging and fill yer boots up with the magic he produces on 2 wheels!! I'm sure his reign will come to an end soon enough - I just hope there is someone of a similar calibre who can step up to the plate, when he does. Let's keep our fingers crossed that both Jorge, Casey and Danii can get themselves back to 100% and encourage the racing we all love.
I have followed all variations of motorcycle racing for many years and im afraid MotoGP is becoming F1 on two wheels. Ok so you can all comment on the last few laps of Catalunya etc, but these close races are few and far between. Its just a procession of riders lap after lap. I still watch every round in hope of close racing only to be dissapointed time after time. Toby and Jules do a great job commentating and they often point out that the first X amount of places are covered by half a second in qualifying, but come race day its the usual suspects walking away with it. The 500cc days were much better and even though Doohan was winning most of the time, the racing was much more exciting with the brutish nature of the monster two strokes. The only traction/launch control was the riders right hand. These days if you want action, 125's are where its at.
what I really, really want to see is Pedrosa back in 250`s along with Talmacsi for some epic racing..preferably team mates..as they are completely wasted Pedrosa sorry ur just too small..fact..
