Everton to confirm Peterlin signing

Everton are expected to confirm the signing of 22-year-old American midfielder Anton Peterlin.

Peterlin will be manager David Moyes' first summer signing, after impressing on a 10-day trial last season, when he was able to attend the FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough.

The FA Cup finalists returned to training on Monday with Peterlin declaring: "I am not sure how often miracles happen, but I will not squander this opportunity."

Moving from Ventura County Fusion for a nominal fee, he is expected to complete the details of a one-year contract.

Fusion play in the fourth tier of US football - the Premier Development League - but Moyes declared: "Anton really impressed myself and the coaching staff with his attitude and undoubted ability."

Peterlin added: "The trial period I was there was great. To play alongside some great names like Phil Neville, Tim Cahill and Tim Howard was an experience.

"Their poise on the ball was terrific and they demand the highest level out of your play every time out."

Everton's youngsters and non-internationals were back in training on Monday, with those on international duty like Manchester City target Joleon Lescott not returning until next week.

Moyes took the squad to Scotland for a training camp near Edinburgh on Monday, and a reserve XI will play at Bury on Friday.

This may be true but the news is Hughes will only let him go out on loan if there is a deal for Lescott to leave for City and a feee will be agreed for a permanent deal ........ The news we are linked with Scholes is VERY disappointing and is also worring as I am sure Fergie has his eyes on Jack Rodwell ........... We should go for highly-rated striker Marcus Berg from Groningen, he is a young Swedish International but would cost between 8 and 10 million, a better option than Jo ............

I heard we are getting Jo back for another season on loan....hope this is true since Jo didnt want to leave Goodison Park and wanted to sign for us. Hope we do get him in the end

  7. @#$% signing, Moyes sort it out and spend some money please, we have money as we finished 5th, got to the final of the FA Cup and we are in Europe. I don't want to hear this rubbish that when Arteta, Yakubu and Jagielka are back it is like signing new players, this is rubbish. We need a right back, left back and centre back urgently ........ we need a quality midfielder and also a striker (30 million) if we sell Lescott (20 million) and use 10 million from Sky surely we will be ok. We need experienced players with International experience to help the kids develop ......... Come on Moyes we are being left behind .........
