Miller targets Newcastle clash

Mon, 06 Jul 14:02:37 2009

Ishmael Miller is aiming to make his long-awaited comeback from injury in time for West Brom's opening fixture of the Coca-Cola Championship season against Newcastle.

The 22-year-old striker damaged a cruciate ligament in his right leg during a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth in December.

But the former Manchester City striker has now returned to full training and looks set to be match fit for the start of the new campaign.

"Basically I am training but I`m taking it easy at the same time and I`m making sure when August 8 comes I am back and ready to play a 90-minute game," he told the club`s official website.

"I trained on Friday possession-wise and passing-wise and we had a game at the end, which I dropped out of.

"I can do everything else and I am going on tour to Slovenia. I should be fully fit for the start of the season."

  2. What do you all make of the new red away kit. I've been following the Baggies for over 40 years and hate the
team playing in red. Shades of QPR in League Cup Final at Wembley and Leicester City at Hillsborough in
68-69. Never seen the lads play well in red, its unlucky. Yellow and Green or Yellow and Blue, White, fine, but red ?

  4. So Kenneth K, Alan C and Tildesley M, you all got your wish by Mowbray leaving. For all his errors, I still had more confidence in us getting promotion with him than I do now. At least we had a settled team. So you going to renew your season tickets now that he's gone and support our new 'head coach'? or you still not happy?

  7. The `return` of miller would give us a great lift after recent events at our club..yes we missed you and i and every other fan see you explode starting against newcastle, you will have at least one new strike partner so who knows............you hopefully wont see arse licker robinson around when you get back and with a fully fit miller in our side we can start to forget all about last season......boing boing

  8. welcome back Ishmael. Looking forward to seeing you again. Though i do think your injury looked rather silly and could have been avoided if you had taken steps to avaoid the goalie. I think we missed you last year. It looked like you were getting ready to score in the premiership. Lets have a better return next year.
