Midfielder Michael O'Connor has left Crewe to join Championship club Scunthorpe for an undisclosed fee.

The Northern Ireland international has signed a three-year contract with the Iron.

O'Connor, 21, spent the end of last season on loan at Lincoln after falling out with Alex boss Gudjon Thordarson, who wanted to keep him at Gresty Road despite their differences.

A brief statement on Crewe's official website read: "Everyone at the club would like to thank Michael for his services during the years and wish him all the best for the future."
