Cristiano Ronaldo successfully completed his medical with Real Madrid on Monday afternoon, the Primera Division club have confirmed.

Ronaldo landed at Madrid airport just after midday before heading to the Hospital Sanitas La Moraleja for his medical as he puts the finishing touches on his world-record £80million move from Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has agreed a six-year contract with Madrid and will be presented at the Bernabeu this evening at 2100 local time, with an estimated 80,000 spectators set to be in attendance.

Carlos Diez, Real Madrid's medical chief, told www.realmadrid.com: "(Ronaldo) is in perfect condition and very eager to start the season as soon as possible."

Ronaldo, the reigning FIFA World Player of the Year, will be the third new signing presented by Madrid since Florentino Perez returned to the club presidency at the start of June.

Brazil star Kaka, who cost a reported £56milllion from AC Milan, was unveiled in front of around 55,000 people at the Bernabeu last Tuesday while Spain international Raul Albiol was presented on Thursday following his move from Valencia.

Madrid have also agreed a deal with Lyon for their striker Karim Benzema for an initial fee of £30million, a transfer that takes the Spanish giants' summer spending close to the £200million mark.

Hundreds of fans are already queueing up outside the Bernabeu for what is set to be one of the biggest-ever attendances for a player presentation.

  1. Gosport52, you are probably one of those ungrateful ManU fans. What do you know about loyalty? How much loyalty did u show to Van Nestelroy? Ronaldo has contributed alot to the success of Man U and he has won everything he could. Even sir Alex knows it. Let the kid move on and enjoy himself in an entertaining league.

  2. Ronaldo will be wetting himself with so many genuflecting fans looking on - doubtless he'll go over in the box and appeal for a penalty. He's a very good player but he has no class and zero loyalty. The only thing Real Madrid have in their favour is that no one will be stupid enough to offer the one trick pony more money and money is the one thing he seems to love more than Ronaldo. He needs it to pay for the cars he doesn't know how to drive.
