Preston chairman Derek Shaw has hit out at Coca-Cola Championship rivals Nottingham Forest over their pursuit of long-serving skipper Paul McKenna.
Reds boss Billy Davies, who worked with the 31-year-old during his time in charge at Deepdale, revealed the latest bid for McKenna was in the region of £750,000.
It was the third time that North End had turned down a bid from Forest for McKenna and Shaw told the club`s official website: "I can confirm last week we did receive a third bid from Nottingham Forest for Paul McKenna, but we again turned it down.
"We do not like to do our business in the public arena and would not have publicised this had comments not been made about it in Nottingham.
"We do not believe it is in anybody's interests to discuss transfer information unless something changes and these bids have clearly been unacceptable to us."

You may not realise this but football is a business. And business is about negotiating in good faith. So if you start to p**s clubs off then they will refuse to co-operate with you in the future ie by not giving you first refusal on a player who may become available who you are interested in, or agreeing to a loan deal (either way). Or have you got your head so far up your Forest a**e they you don't realise that what goes around comes around.
well said david w have a word with that kevin p all i care about is nottingham forest no one as ever done us any favours so sod em he would probably walk to nottinghsm given the chance
I agree with Shaw. Forest are being unprofessional saying "he needs to move for the benefit of his career". As to pushing up the price - how so? If there were competing bids that could be an argument. But there isn't. So it's nonesense. Forest are trying to unsettle the player and that's not right.
Shaw's a complete idiot. if Forest have done something wrong then he should complain to the FA ! What's the point of complaining about going to the press then doing it himself to moan about it. Blatantly just trying to push up the price. I'm sure there are plenty of other (better) deals for 750K anyway.
Shaw this is your doing anyway. It was PNE that first mentioned the Reds had bid for Paul and now you say its Forest thats going to the press. You're just trying to hike up the price you @#$%. If he wants to come let him go and with thanks after what hes done for your samll backwoods club.
