Trollope dismisses Lambert talk

Mon 06 Jul, 03:48 PM

Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope has shrugged off speculation that striker Rickie Lambert could be leaving the club.

Huddersfield have been linked as potential suitors for the Rovers hitman, but first-team coach Trollope has no intention of letting him go.

"There's a lot of stories in regards to Rickie," he told BBC Bristol. "I think it's just a case of business as usual.

"Rickie had a fantastic season, like (director of football) Lennie (Lawrence) said the other day we've had no official approaches, no phone calls to myself, Lennie or the chairman so he's our player and will be next season.

"It's not his favourite time of year (pre-season), he's a big lad but he's got a great work ethic and he's come back in decent shape. That was part of his success last season that he looked after himself and made the effort. We're looking for the same again from Rickie."

Trollope is expected to confirm the signing of former Stockport midfielder Dominic Blizzard this week.
