New Middlesbrough signing Mark Yeates has backed his former club Colchester to win promotion this season.
The winger, who joined Boro for an undisclosed fee earlier this summer, believes that Paul Lambert's side are well equipped for a return to the Championship.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they went up next season and I would be delighted if that were to happen," Yeates told the Colchester Gazette.
"If Colchester can get back into the Championship it would be an extra boost for everyone.
"For Middlesbrough and Colchester to both go up next year would be the perfect season for me."

No chance. Colchester will struggle, as will all the small clubs in Div 1 such as Southend (my club) Exeter and Wycombe.
The small clubs simply cannot compete and even many of the Div 1 clubs can now splash money around either on large transfer fees (Huddersfield paying £275K for Theo Robinson) or large wages.
The Col Us and Southends of this world simply do not have that sort of cash. Col U's new ground can only hold 10,000 and only got close to that on a couiple of occasions last season. You cannot get far with gates of 4-5000 or even the 7-8000 that Southend get.
