World Cup 2010 - Gerrard: I won't quit England
Eurosport - Tue, 06 Jul 13:16:00 2010
Steven Gerrard has insisted that he will not retire from international football despite England's disappointing World Cup campaign.
Gerrard's fellow Liverpool star Jamie Carragher announced his second international retirement after the tournament, and England manager Fabio Capello is widely expected to bring in plenty of new players for the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
But 30-year-old Gerrard - who captained England during their ill-fated stint in South Africa - is determined to help his country turn things around and end his international career on a high.
"There is no way I want the disappointment of the Germany game to be my last for England," he told the Liverpool website.
"It was such a low and I am determined to do as much as I can to make amends for what happened.
"I expect there to be a lot of changes to the squad and it is up to the manager whether I am selected, but I am going to continue to make myself available for my country."
