Brush: The signings will come

Wed 06 Aug, 02:45 PM

Southend assistant boss Paul Brush has urged the club's supporters to remain patient as the Shrimpers continue their search for fresh faces.Brush is determined to bring players in as soon as possible, but feels they may be forced to wait while Premier League clubs assess the availability of their fringe players.

"We spoke with four clubs on Tuesday and watched two matches on Monday and three on Tuesday," he told the club's official website.

"The signals have been positive, but I think it is important to remember that this weekend is only the beginning of the season and not the deadline.

"With the Premier League season not starting for another week we have been told that we will have to wait before clubs decide who is available."

Meanwhile, Brush confirmed the club have made an offer to Chelsea youngster Anthony Grant, who spent three months on loan this season before returning for a successful trial in pre-season.
