Wed 06 Aug, 05:30 PM

Midfielder Shaun Derry has revealed becoming Crystal Palace's new club captain is one of the proudest moments in his career.Eagles boss Neil Warnock has handed the former Leeds midfielder the armband after previous skipper Mark Hudson quit Selhurst Park to join south London rivals Charlton earlier this summer.

"I would be a liar if I didn't say that being given the captain's armband for Palace is not up there with the proudest moments of my career," he said.

"I was excited and delighted when the gaffer told me of his decision to present me with this role and it is a great feeling."

  1. surely no one else wanted it,they must hope he acts a little better than he did at leeds he was just a soppy spoilt ponce who hid when the going got hard,he was however very good at blaming anybody else when things went wrong,a true legend in his own living room.
