Coventry's Aron Gunnarsson claims he is relishing the prospect of competing for a place in boss Chris Coleman's starting XI this season. The 19-year-old Icelander, one of Coleman's summer signings, is part of a large contingent of midfielders vying for a starting berth this season.
"It's very good when there are a lot of players all looking to get the same places because it makes you play better and show what you are capable of," he told the club's official website.
"All I can do is my best but competition is very healthy because it keeps everyone sharp and I'm really looking forward to it."
Gunnarsson is hoping he has already done enough to earn a place in the side to face Norwich in the Sky Blues' season opener on Saturday.
"Some of my family will be coming to watch me and I really want to do well for them. It would be my first taste of English football and I can't wait to get started as soon as possible."
