Scotland return delights Swans boss

Wed 06 Aug, 02:30 PM

Jason Scotland made an unexpected return from injury as Swansea ended their pre-season preparations with victory over Dutch side ADO Den Haag.Andrea Orlandi grabbed the only goal of the game for Roberto Martinez's men, but it was the return of Scotland that provided the best news for Swansea fans.

The Trinidad and Tobago striker has been sidelined since the spring following surgery on a groin problem, but managed an hour before being replaced by Jordi Gomez.

Swans boss Martinez was delighted to see Scotland back in action, but hinted the forward would start on the bench in the season-opener against Charlton.

Martinez told the club's official website: We are delighted with Jason's progress. I don't think anybody thought he would have played an hour against Den Haag and he came through with no problems.

"He's got a chance to be involved in the squad against Charlton but you could see that he isn't at the level to play 90 minutes. Over the next two to three days we'll see how he's progressing in his fitness and hopefully there'll be no reaction."
