Rangers fans have called for leadership from the top at Ibrox following the Glasgow club's exit from Europe at the hands of FBK Kaunas.
Last season's UEFA Cup finalists were beaten 2-1 in Lithuania on Tuesday night following a 0-0 draw at Ibrox in the Champions League second qualifying round.
Rangers Supporters' Trust spokesman David Edgar said: "Let's not sugar-coat it, this was a disaster of a result. The fans are more upset than I can remember.
"The feel-good factor from Manchester (UEFA Cup final) has totally and utterly gone. It's hard to see where we go from here and it's down to the people in charge to show us.
"The fear is that players will be sold to balance the books and the fans simply will not stand for it. We are totally gutted."
Rangers Supporters Assembly president Jim Templeton labelled the side "a disgrace" after their European aspirations were ended before the Clydesdale Bank Premier League season has started.
Templeton said Rangers owner Sir David Murray, boss Walter Smith and chief executive Martin Bain will be brought to book at a pre-arranged question-and-answer session at the club's training complex, Murray Park, on Friday.
He said: "You could call it a disaster but you could also say that the second-half display was a disgrace.
"They looked clueless against what was hardly a world-class team.
"The loss of money from going out of Europe is one thing but fans want to see what is on the park and the evidence of what we have seen tonight, there wasn't much.
"And if you are honest, there were signs of that at the end of the season.
"There is another couple of weeks before the transfer window closes and if ever there was evidence that we needed something, especially in the middle of the park, then tonight was it.
"There is a gaping hole there and it needs (to be) filled.
"Our AGM is this week and there will be fans coming from all over the world.
"There will be a question and answer session at Murray Park on Friday morning with Sir David Murray, Walter and Martin Bain.
"That should be interesting."
Templeton insists Smith will survive the inevitable calls for his head.
He said: "It's a bit early for that.
"You have to consider what he achieved last season when we were going for the quadruple.
"There is no need to tell him what a disaster this is, he went through similar during his first time at Ibrox.
"We are just looking for signs of progression but there hasn't been any."

i'm a celtic supporter, and i'm shocked you got put out but not surpprised, you can not go in to evey game and just defend with one striker up front...its so negitive and makes the scottish game look dull, wich in truth it isnt. i hope celtic now put on a good show, and good luck to the rest of the scottish teams in europe.
Tactics Wrong! Team selection Wrong! some bad signings !!!!! Why sign strikers and play 1 up front????? only Smith will know!!!! Why not sign Steven Davis before the euro transfer deadline? for the sake of a million, its cost us between £5m-£10million. something must change!!!!! and soon!!!!!
I read with some what amazement that yet again another talking shop will commence this Friday to discuss the "SHAMBLES" that we Rangers fans have been watching for a number of season.
The "Talking Shop " on friday should be opened to the ordinary hard working fan who is having to supplement their daily lifes by continuing to support a very very poor structure at RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB" , No disrespect this meeting will be well stage managed before it has even opened, the PR machine at rangers will have their influence all over it to prevent the true hard facts to be exposed.
Time for ALL rangers fans to stand up and show the club just what action can and will be taken , hate to say messers Murray, and his board , have not a ounce of rangers at heart, if they did they would not allow this fiasco to materialise.
With all this in mind, we need a new direction and begin to seek individuals , or someone who will manage rangers with better cash flow, "we are continuesly told "rangers are a massive club" that massive we wont spend the monies to sign the quality of players the club and fans deserve to see wearing a rangers jersey.
The time has come for ordinary working class fan to have his or her voice on the board, the current self appointed persons have made no differance, stand aside and make way for someone who will not be afraid to speak up.
and too those celtic fans out there that like to take the pish iv always supported any scottish football team in europe and iv got good mates that are celtic fans iv got two words for you (ARTMIDA BRATISLAVA) talk about the pot callin the kettle black...
When will rangers fans wake up to the fact that they are a mediocre team who progressed in last seasons uefa cup through some pretty awful defensive displays and in fact did the same in many domestic cup games relying on penalty kicks too many times
You have to laugh at some of these comments, sack the team, sack the management, the only people who need to be sacked are the rangers fans, every year without fail they moan about how poor the team or the coach are, lets face it, scottish football isnt great compared to the majority of europe however most hun fans reckon they are world beaters and have a god given right to success, wise up!!! you are a middle of the road team with middle of the road gaffers and scum of the earth fans
Alright Fulhams GREEDY so instead of wasting money buying what you dont need get Steven Davies he is what you do need someone who will play for that shirt
ULSTER GERS FAN (Robert)
lets be honest , there out because they deserve to be out. they were out played totally in the second half. At one point the 4 midfielder's were all in the centre circle and the ball was on the wing. We had no shape and looked lost most of the game. Dailly was a disgrace and many may disagree but McGregor was too blame for both goals. Missed the first one and flapped at the second. these guys really must take a look at themselves and think what it means to play for Rangers because that was a shameful display last night. Good luck to rest of Scottish teams in Europe this year. Disenchanted Rangers Fan
simply the best what a f_cking joke
by a rangers fan
BUCK EM!!!!!
What a load of @#$%......and lets hope it gets worse
how can you get behind a manager that buys 2 forwards when you already have enough and lets one of your achievers go into limbo at a club he does'nt want to be at . if thats the way rangers are going to play this season well you might aswell hand the cups and league to celtic at least the manager identifies his weaknesses and tries to strengthen them . as much as i hate to admit this but because of his work celtic will be a force not only at home but abroad to
Why dont rangers start the league with their reserve team. Give the youngsters a chance, and also let them show the so called superstars, how to play with a bit of heart and pride.
And most of football's greats...have passed through parkheads gates...oh to play football...the glasgow celtic waaayyyyy!!!!! I remember the days Rangers were winning everything, doing well in europe, it was all smiles then, but saying that, rangers did make it on the back of the english clubs being banned from europe. thats how you got all there good players. anyway, instead of moaning about your team, get behind them, support them through the bad times aswell as the good. thats what being a supporter is all about.
how can anyone not ask for smiths head ?? do you realy want to pay your money and see total negative boring football ?? he made a cxxt of it last night and he's bin doing it for a wee while lets move him up the stairs and get big sam alladyce . give him the season to build and repair the sxxx were in just now and he will come good and wee can then call ourselves the pride of scottish football instead of the laughing stock!!!!!!
