Norwegian rider Edvald Boasson Hagen of the Columbia-HTC team won the fourth stage of the Tour of Poland after outshining team-mate Andre Greipel in a sprint finish.
Greipel, wearing the race leader's jersey, finished second on the 239.7 km stage from Naleczow to Rzeszow but was later disqualified by race officials after an incident with another rider, believed to be Australia's Allan Davis.
"I tried to do the lead-out for Andre but things got a bit stressful in the last corner which was close to the finish," Boasson Hagen said. "We almost crashed and I didn't know afterwards if Andre was behind me or not, so I kept going.
"Finally, though, I got the win and it all worked out for the best."
After Greipel's disqualification Belgian Jurgen Roelandts and Italy's Danilo Napolitano were credited with second and third place finishes meaning Roelandts, of the Silence team, is the new race leader.
Roelandts now leads Slovakian Borut Boziuc, and a handful of other riders including Greipel, by two seconds with the top 136 riders within a minute of Roelandts.
The race finishes on Saturday with a 136.5km ride from Rabka Zdroj to Krakow.

Armstrong and you know it, go Texas. yeee haaa
I very much agree with Pedro118118. This guys is special with an "S" and I truly believe he can win the Tour in the next couple of years. Guys close to him in the Tour of Britain last year spoke of how he seemed not to breathe when the peleton was on full gas and some teams were amazed at how quickly he cruised up and down the peleton from the team cars. I dont think he can climb with the best yet ...but there is certainly room to improve to that level if he loses one or two pounds. His TT is spot on ..so the transition should be no issue. If AC can work on his TT skills to beat Cancellara, then Boassen can do the same with his climbing.
I said in a preivious LA & AC forum ...that this kid will be one of Contadors biggest challengers if he takes up the GC challenge. His climbing will come ..just need some work and a good manager.
I tell you what, this kid is something special. I would be very happy if Sky were able to tempt him from Columbia. Surely with Greipel and Cav in the squad, his chances in the big races will be limited, but then again there's much more to this guy than sprinting - he can climb pretty well and rides a mean TT.
Davis did say in his Twitter that he got a definite shirt pull and after the race Greipel apologised saying it was "heat of the moment", so it clearly was an infringement. I just really wanted to see Davis secure a win and was frustrated when I saw him slowing down.
Watch the video again. As the riders come round one of the right hand corners Davis is alongside Greipel to the left of the screen and you see Greipel thrust an elbow out at Davis. The action immediately cuts to another camera and Davis has swung into the middle of the road and then puts his hand in the air. He was clearly elbowed out the way so the penalty is fair. But Davis' reaction is the equivalent to Ronaldo writhing on the floor...
Liz S - It's because 9 times out of 10 it works, as it did with Davis here, he got Greipel DQ'd. I know your question was a bit rhetorical and you know why anyway but and I'm as frustrated as you - totally agree and both cycling and footy referees should react to the incident rather than a wimpy reactions of the competitors who think they have been fouled or blocked. They watch the race/game and are meant to be experts so shouldn't need the competitors to point it out. Suppose I am preaching to the converted here, it's just annoying that referees aren't better or more video analysis isn't done by someone with half a brain for a change.
Why did Davis go backwards while protesting? That's what I hate about football, when they all put their hands up and stop playing instead of just sticking the ball in the back of the net.
Haven`t bothered watching much as it would mean listening to David Duffield
der doing another cavendish
Cant see what Greipels done wrong - all I can see is Davis swaying all over the road and nearly taking Greipel out if it was for Greipel putting his arm on Davis' shoulder to prevent an accident, Greipel then still had the presence to sprint from 4th to 2nd where Davis just cried like a wimp and put his arm up...
Seems to me that the Commisaires are bending under pressure from any protest the sprinters make on any race rather than actually watch the events before making a decision - same happend in the Giro and the TDF - happening too often actually.
I might be wrong but I cant any other incident other than before Davis put his arm up.
Slovenians come from Slovenia and Slovakians come from: you've guessed it, Slovakia. Slovenia has borders with Crotia and Italy and the capital city is Ljubljana. Slovakia was formerly part of Czechoslovakia and thus borders the Czech Republic, amongst other coutries; capital Bratislva.
What's the difference between a Slovenian and a Slovakian? Honest question.
Two corrections - Borut Boziuc's real last name is Božič (but you can write it Bozic if your keyboard does not support Slavic character sets) and he is SLOVENIAN, not Slovakian.
