The penultimate stop of mountain bikings Four Cross National Points Series will take place at Penshurst Off Road Centre (PORC) this weekend. Following a four week hiatus since the epic fifth round battle at the countrys number one Four Cross venue, Redhill Extreme, this weekends racing will be an altogether different beast on the rough, super-fast slopes of PORC.
This will be the first national level competition held at PORC since the early days of Four Cross racing back in 2003. With the countrys highest wooden start gate and longest, fastest start straight, riders will have to put everything on the line to make it into, and out of the first berm in one piece. For those unable to hold the corner, the infamous Penshurst lake will be waiting ominously.
Stand out racer, Max Lenthal, riding for Fly Racing has been a revelation in 2009. A relative newcomer to the Four Cross scene, Lenthal has made a big impact in his first full year on the circuit, finishing in the top three at all but one of the this years races. Crashing out of the much coveted National Championship race last month, he will be back and baying for blood this weekend. He will take on the talented Tom Knight in the Junior category, in what will be the weekends ultimate showdown.
