Ten-man Borussia Dortmund beat Bochum 2-1 in the Ruhr derby on Friday to end a three-match losing streak and ease the pressure on coach Thomas Doll.
In front of a sell-out crowd of 72,200, Dortmund went in front with an angled shot from Brazilian Tinga after Bochum's Czech goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka failed to hold a shot from captain Christian Woerns in the 17th minute.
Pole Marcin Mieciel equalised for Bochum 18 minutes later before Woerns was sent off early in the second half for a second bookable offence.
Dortmund shrugged off his dismissal and Giovanni Federico grabbed the winner with 20 minutes left, firing in a loose ball from 15 metres after Bochum failed to clear a corner.
The victory lifted Dortmund away from the relegation zone to 10th in the Bundesliga. Bochum remained 14th after their sixth consecutive match without a win.
