Patrick Vieira was spotted in the stands at Stamford Bridge at the weekend, but just what significance did the former Arsenal midfielder's presence there have?
Well, The Sun claims that Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti sees the France international as a possible replacement for Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel when the pair head off to play in the African Nations Cup in January.
Vieira has made no secret of his desire to quit Internazionale - he has not featured for Jose Mourino's side this season - and a return to the Premier League is a clear option.
Of course his arrival at the Bridge would very much depend on Chelsea's appeal over their transfer ban, which at the moment prohibits them from signing anyone for the next two transfer windows.
Should the appeal be successful, Chelsea are likely to compete with Arsenal for the 33-year-old's signature.
David Sullivan, who is quitting Birmingham as Carson Yeung takes over at St Andrews, wants to buy West Ham - but only for a bargain price, considering the massive debts the club have (Daily Mirror).
Alex Ferguson's outburst about Alan Wiley looks like having serious implications, and not just for the Manchester United manager, whom the FA have asked to explain himself.
The Daily Mail reports that the official is set to go the same way as Anders Frisk - into retirement. Friends of the referee have claimed that the episode has left him considering walking away from the sport.
United starlet Danny Welbeck is set to break into the big-time with a new £12,000 a week deal. The 18-year-old has impressed Ferguson and will be rewarded with a four-year contract (The Sun).
Across town, Manchester City are tracking Lyon youngster Miralem Pjanic, who impressed for the French side on Champions League duty against Debrecen last week. "I am happy other clubs are showing an interest," the £5 million-rated 19-year-old said in The Sun.
The Times leads on its back page with 'Fury over England TV blackout', helpfully noting what we can all watch for free - Harry Hill's TV Burp and The X Factor and New You've Been Framed - while England's game against Ukraine is shown on the internet at a cost of up to £11.99.
Everybody's favourite Premier League footballer Jimmy Bullard (remember him?) is set to make his comeback for Hull City tonight in a reserve game against Bolton following surgery on his knee (Daily Mirror).
Fulham's American contingent could be further bolstered as boss Roy Hodgson is eyeing a swoop for Brek Shea, the FC Dallas defender who would cost around £2m (The Sun).
And finally, Gary Megson has slammed the door in the face of Middlesbrough, who wanted to sign Andy O'Brien on loan to boost their promotion bid. Meanwhile, Boro midfielder Gary O'Neil is set to be subjected to a £2m bid from Fulham (Daily Mirror).

i know chelsea have the transfer ban'but do we really need him??with the african cup to
come we have the strength in depth, deco, joe cole, ballack, moluda, lampard, sturridge,
ivanovic, hutchin son, bosingwa,so there is enough quality to get us through until the
african contingent return hopefully injury free.
he cant join chelsea cuz there transfer thing
Over the years Chelsea have signed a number of players at towards the end of there career and they have turned out to be stars, Hughes, Zola, and atm Anelka so having another as back-up may turn out to be a good decision
Just what Chelsea need, an experienced older player. Oh! Hang on haven't they got ten of those already????
fergurson should shut his big sweaty gob w++++r
WHO??????.....NAH,HE'S A HAS BEEN......
Welbeck breaking into the big time??? Must be a joke. Did you see the way he played during the weekend. He was a lost child in mid-field. Give us a break. He's good no doubt but into the big time???
#15 Bajulai. It wasn't a long time ago that some Arsenal fans were complaining that AW was not spending enough.
Hope Alan Wiley stays on. Good refs are difficult to get nowadays. And he's one of the good ones.
Viera was in England and opted to watch Liverpool/Chelsea to make people wonder, but he was to go to the 13 years at Arsenal birthday of Wenger, along with Henry and many others we haven't seen.
And in place of injured Denilson,he possibly has a spot at Arsenal
WASTE OF MONEY IF THEY BUY HIM.HE DOSNT EVEN MAKE THE FIRST TEAM IN INTER-MILAN THE DEFENDERS TIME IS GONE.LOOK FOR A BETTER PLAYER TO COVER JOHN MIKEL AND ESSIEN
Chelsea are banned form transfers so how can they line anyone up??? media...they talk some sh.t
no i think viera would like to play for a club he likes and understands. be it inter or arsenal or whoever.
Strong strong smh at the sun
viera would prefer to be surrounded by men in a team and not toddlers, no matter how brilliant such toddlers may appear to be.
What a load of @#$%, why the Media always tells lies. Vieira has played for us this season (FACT) so why The Sun says he has not? Just because a man shows up in the stadium to watch a match it always means he wants to sign for them? if this is true then maybe Capello wants to put his football boots on again and play for all the EPL teams as he has been watching the games, what retards.
I am an Inter fan and would be surprised if he left as he is starting to look good for us and does not play like a typical 33 year old. Never say never in football but I hope he stays he still has something to offer.
liverpool r in dire need of a player like vieira chelsea cant buy anyone even on appeal they wil stil b banned for january window at the very least if vieira goes to any big club it wil b either arsenal r liverpool song goes to african nations in january so having vieira for the 2nd half of season is not a bad idea
Fabregas can kick Viera all over the park, no worries.
