France have added striker Bafetimbi Gomis to the squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Faroe Islands and Austria after Franck Ribery pulled out injured.
Lyon striker Gomis, who has won four caps, was called up on Monday for the games against the Faroe Islands on Saturday in Guingamp and Austria on October 14 at Stade de France.
Ribery left France's training camp outside Paris on Monday because of tendinitis in his left knee.
With playmaker Yoann Gourcuff sidelined with a thigh injury, coach Raymond Domenech will now have to make do without arguably his two most creative players.
With two matches still to play, France are second in Group Seven, four points behind Serbia, and face a struggle to avoid a playoff to reach next year's finals in South Africa.
