Doncaster's stand-in skipper Adam Lockwood is waiting to learn whether he requires surgery after breaking two bones in his foot.
Centre-back Lockwood sustained the injury in the recent draw with Swansea and is waiting to learn if he has suffered any ligament damage.
An initial X-ray failed to show the fractures, which were later revealed by an MRI scan and Lockwood will now undergo a CT scan to determine whether he needs an operation.
Meanwhile, Mark Wilson and Byron Webster could also be ruled out of the South Yorkshire derby clash with Barnsley a week on Saturday.
Wilson was forced out of the weekend draw at Sheffield United with a calf injury and has been rated 50/50 for the Tykes' visit to the Keepmoat Stadium, while defender Webster required an injection to continue playing after hyper-extending his elbow in the same match.
