Thomas Vermaelen believes Arsenal's 6-2 thrashing of Blackburn sent out a "big message" to the rest of the Barclays Premier League - but maintains there is still plenty of room for improvement.
The Gunners are now the leading scorers in the division and moved back into the top four following a brilliant attacking display at Emirates Stadium on Sunday..
"To win a match 6-2 is a big message. Now we just have to continue," the Belgian £10million summer signing from Ajax told Arsenal TV Online.
"In the end it was a great result, but if you analyse the match, in the first half we were not so good.
"The first half was a little bit disappointing for us as a defence because we gave away too many chances and they scored two goals.
"That is something which we must improve and there are things we can work on."
Vermaelen, though, feels Arsene Wenger's side should take heart from the way they have responded to successive Premier League defeats before the last international break to record a run of six consecutive victories in all competitions.
"We have good spirit and want to play our own game with quick passing," said Vermaelen - somewhat fortunate not to concede a penalty at the start of the second half when, with the score at 3-2, he appeared to trip David Dunn.

u-20: it's d-day for nigeria against germany. visit africaplays.come
*4... well who would want a drogba or a lampard...a donkey diver and an idoit...why lampard when fabregas is younger and better, more appealing to the football world, and why drogba, when we have van persie, eduardo, bendtner, walcott, vela, arshavin, and a very strong possibilitie of chamakh in january for a very tidy cut price as wenger again looks to get a decent striiker worth 10-12million for around half or less than that...arsenal wont pursue players like drogba or lampard as we dont over pay for a player or over pay them in wages, which is yes 10 why we dont win/buy trophies every season but 20 when we do win them we achieve them and truly win them.

No(thumbs down)
I said yes.because he defend very well and score many goals.
Half a brain winning the EPL title is more down to beating the mediocre teams and not how you do against the other big four. Look at MU last year. They stunk it up against the big teams but managed to squeeze out 1-0 wins against the lesser teams with the help of the officials, when the others had too many draws The games between the big teams tend to cancel each other out
half a brain foe sure, what small teams r u talkin about, arsenal managed 6 past blackburn and man u could only settle for a draw, now if u ask me the gunners are getting better and better.
arsenals year we will win premship easy top players top manager top team arsenals magic man u tragic up the gunners fergusson is cracking up he lost the plot give him a barrel of whisky and stick him in some glen in scotland the nooo

hey donkey at least arsenal don't struggle to DRAW like man utd vs sunderland :p
From a MU fan I fear Arsenal will get better, they are playing the best football in the EPL at present, well balanced team. Should MU fail to make 4 in a row, Arsenal will make great champions, having said that, I feel that the Champions league could be theirs this year.
And what is the big message for thumping an average team? Is it the same as Liverpool's message after thrashing Hull? Cause if anything messages go with, the losses against title contenders send a clearer message about how Arsenal is fragile when it matters the most..
All I can say is, Patrick vieira in the January window!!!Thats will bind us up lovely jubbly
arsenal are missing a drogba and a lampard..players with strength that can decide a game.Having said that Drogba , Lampard were unheard of at 20 years of age. Arsenal and Barcelona are the best footbaling sides today....but playing good football is not sinonimous with WINNING. barca can win because of Messi and Eto(now ibra) and Xavi etc. players that can decide a game.oops Iniesta too.same story with man unites last years..ronaldo, rooney etc. we know arsenal can dominate as a team..but can walcott , fabregas arshavin and the others grow into threats by themselves!..come on you youngsters
rather see you there in the top 4 then liverfool
