Championship - Kenny agrees new Blades deal

Paddy Kenny has agreed a new deal at Sheffield United which will tie him to the club until 2011.

It is a tremendous show of faith from the Blades, as Kenny is currently serving a suspension after failing a drugs test at the end of last season.

The Irishman's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but he has added a further year to his commitment.

"We have decided to talk to Paddy and get him on a new contract which will kick in in April when his ban is up," said chairman Kevin McCabe.

"It's agreed between the club and Paddy and the deal is about to be tied up."

Kenny, 31, joined the Blades from Bury on a free transfer seven years ago and has been a pivotal player for the Bramall Lane club, making almost 300 appearances.
