Premier League - Kuszczak blasts Van Der Sar

PA Sport - Fri, 06 Nov 08:08:00 2009

Tomasz Kuszczak has said requests for help from Manchester United goalkeeping rival Edwin van der Sar have gone mostly unanswered and hinted at his frustration after failing to displace the veteran Dutchman.

The 27-year-old is in his fourth season at Old Trafford and still has "big" ambitions in the game despite being unable to win a regular place in Sir Alex Ferguson's team.

He has sought out Van der Sar for guidance and believes the 39-year-old's advice could help him to improve his game. But the Poland international says he has been offered few tips.

"To be honest, I must say this and Edwin doesn't like this too much for sure but he doesn't help me too much," Kuszczak told the club's television channel MUTV, according to The Times.

"I have told him a few times already to give me some more advice because he's got more experience and got many more games under his belt.

"I say, `You have to give me something more because I like to know what I do wrong and like to watch other people. Doing that I can take some good from the advice I get.' But I don't know, maybe Edwin doesn't like me. You'll have to ask him."

  3. Not the first time I have read something similar about van der Sar. Part of the job of a senior player should be to help and assist the other players at a club achieve their potential. United could find themselves with no top keeper when Edwin retires and the others have left or not got enough experience.

  5. Edwin Van Der Sar is one of the best goalkeepers and very professional. Kuszczak isn't professional to talk to the media about it . He should ask his coach.
Many goalkeepers want to be the 3rd goalkeeper by Man Utd. You can learn so much and get the best training.

  8. I thought they have a coach in every department. They are the ones with designed programmes to improve the players. VDS can only teach so much. Apparently the goalkeeping position is the only position that cannot allow the "sitting-next-to-nelly" approach - coz you can't have two keepers at the same time. Kuszczack should have spoken to his coach instead of blurting it out in the open. I'm afraid his days may be numbered now.

  10. I feel sorry for Kusczak
he as always come across as very genuine and he really wants to do well pity Ferguson does not encourage more than he does
Van Dar Sar..comes across as an "I am" and is not that good anymore....

  14. Kuszczack should have stayed at WBA. At least he got a game and played well. He may have a few quid in the
bank, but never plays. How many starts has he had at Utd ? I would like to know how many games he has
played ? Come back to the Baggies Tomas !

Perhaps Mr T. Kuszczak could suggest that Mr E.Van de Sar be paid a little bit more for working on improving his own skills and then, those of his rival for the only goalkeeping job at Old Trafford!Who knows, Mr. E. van de Sar might discover that he is actually meant to teach young goalkeepers, not keep goals himself!!!!!!!

  18. nah,Van Der sar just too busy thinking about his impending retirement..

From Jamesy, on Fri 6 Nov 10:21AM
  20. Kusczak should just leave, he'll never be number 1 at United. Even when Edwin retires they will bring in someone else above Kusczak.
