Bans hurt Mariners

Defender Olly Lancashire and midfielder Peter Sweeney are suspended for Grimsby's FA Cup first-round tie at home to non-league Bath City.

Lancashire, on loan from Southampton, would have been eligible to play had he not been sent off during last weekend's league draw against Accrington.

Sweeney received his fifth yellow card of the season against Stanley and both players must serve one-match bans.

Rob Atkinson's recovery from a groin injury is timely and the 22-year-old comes straight into contention to replace Lancashire.

Barry Conlon staked a claim for a recall by marking his return from a four-match suspension with Town's last-minute equaliser against Accrington after coming on as a substitute.

Grimsby have won their opening game in the competition just twice since 2000.
