Key men missing for Sunderland

Fri, 06 Nov 11:08:54 2009

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce faces a major selection headache ahead of the Barclays Premier League trip to Tottenham.

Striker Kenwyne Jones is suspended after being sent off during last weekend's 2-2 draw with West Ham, while skipper Lorik Cana, who picked up his fifth booking of the season in the same game, also misses out.

Frontman Fraizer Campbell is expected to shake off a thigh problem, but Cana's absence is a real blow with Lee Cattermole (medial ligaments) also sidelined.

John Mensah (calf) and Bolo Zenden (hip) are again likely to be missing, and youngsters David Meyler and Adam Reed are included in the squad.

  1. Tony I completely agree. We have spent as much as Chelski on players and have a squad second to none in the EPL, as you keep reminding us. I mean, YOU never say we have poor players do you? Having 5 or 6 key players out certainly has never affected your lot, as their performances last season show. Look how they completely didn't miss Owen or Given, for example. Your second string even clouted Peterboro in the Carling Cup this year. That's how a strong squad should perform! It's a disgrace..
