Mourinho To Snub England - Report

Thu 06 Dec, 12:36 AM

Jose Mourinho could reportedly snub the chance to coach England in favour of a move to Barcelona.

The former Chelsea boss has been heavily linked with the vacant England post ever since Steve McClaren was sacked from his position in November, but reports emerging from Spain suggest he could instead opt for a return to club management.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, two of Mourinho's assistants at Chelsea - Silvino deAlmeida Louro and Brito - have been regulars at the Nou Camp in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, current Barca boss Frank Rijkaard is under pressure after a stuttering campaign so far and they trail leaders Real Madrid by four points heading into the weekend programme.

Should Rijkaard leave at the end of the season, Mourinho is the strong fans' favourite to take control and given he's unattached, the Catalan giants are keen to make him a lucrative offer.

On Tuesday Chelsea and England captain John Terry became the latest leading name to add his weight behind calls for Mourinho to lead the country out of the doldrums following the failure to reach Euro 2008.

But while there's growing pressure on the FA to make a firm move for Mourinho, there have been concerns he's merely using the situation as a negotiating tool in order to land a massive club job in Europe.

Mourinho's trusted advisor Eladio Parames strongly denied these claims on Tuesday but also confirmed there have been no approaches for him.
