Bromby's back in gaffer's plans

Bryan Robson has hinted defender Leigh Bromby has played himself right back into the manager's first-team plans at Bramall Lane. The 27-year-old, signed from Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer in 2004, has been restricted to 12 appearances this season, but has seized his chance following the return of Gary Cahill to Aston Villa and Chris Morgan's injury.

Robson said: "I was pleased with Leigh Bromby. Since I put him in at centre-half he's had two cracking games and to be fair to him he said he would fill in at right-back, but he wants to play in the middle."

Robson also confirmed striker Rob Hulse - recently back from a broken leg - was left out of the squad for Saturday's FA Cup win at Bolton for his own sake.

The Blades manager added: "Most of the changes were enforced on me, there was only Rob Hulse that I chose to leave out and that was because I wanted to protect him - he has played a few games of late."
