Coppell won't allow Hunt to leave

Mon 07 Jan, 03:00 PM

Steve Coppell says there is 'no scenario' where Stephen Hunt will be allowed to leave the club, as Reading prepare to sign Marek Matejovsky.Hunt, who was the subject of a bid from Sunderland, admitted he was open to the possibility of a move north.

However, Coppell - who is close to the capture of Czech international Matejovsky - insists Hunt will not leave.

"We had one offer from Sunderland and that was insufficient. But he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract and there is no scenario where he will leave in this transfer window," said Coppell.

"I don't expect anyone to go."

Mlada Bolselav midfielder Matejovsky is set to cost £1million and he has flown to England to finalise his move - which was first revealed on Monday.

Although he refused to talk about Reading - Matejovsky, who is understood to have spent time training with The Royals - admitted he wanted a move to England.

"I would relish the Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the world, with matches played in a great atmosphere," he told Sport.
