Watford captain Jay DeMerit admitted it was "about time" his side won at Vicarage Road after the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Crystal Palace.Danny Shittu's brace earned the Hornets their first home win in eight games and DeMerit hopes that Adrian Boothroyd's side can take that form into the rest of the season.

He said: "It's about time. I think coming off our last performance we took a little bit more confidence into the Palace game.

"Our Southampton game was one of the best games we've probably had in a month or two and we've done what we're supposed to do at both ends and we continued that.

"That again shows the confidence that we're playing with and hopefully we can carry that into next week."
