Carlisle captain Paul Thirlwell is set to undergo a scan on a calf injury amid fears he faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines.Thirlwell limped out of Saturday's thrilling 3-2 win over Port Vale with the problem and has been continually beset by thigh injuries this season.

The 28-year-old recently returned from two months out injured and boss John Ward now faces an anxious wait to see whether he will again be without skipper Thirlwell.

Ward, meanwhile, has again praised the manner in which his side battled from 2-0 down to claim victory at the weekend.

"It was a terrific win and probably one of the most important of the season," said the Blues boss.
