Preston midfielder Simon Whaley hopes his FA Cup winner against Scunthorpe will kick-start his side's Championship season.In-form Whaley struck his fourth goal in eight games to secure a 1-0 win against the Iron but his side are still bottom of the league.
However, after booking Preston a place in the fourth round, Whaley said: "To win a game at the moment is massive for us because of how things have been going.
"We have got ourselves in this position and there is only us who can get ourselves out of it.
"Hopefully, this win - especially at home in front of the fans - will give us the boost to kick-on now in the league and start lifting ourselves up that table."
