Williamson hails returning Butler

Mon 07 Jan, 01:00 PM

Chester boss Bobby Williamson praised the manner in which Paul Butler climbed off his sickbed to turn in "a captain's role" at Accrington. The experienced defender was a major doubt for the game but played for 45 minutes as City came from behind three times to grab a share of the spoils.

"He (Butler) said he would give us 45 minutes and thankfully he did do that," said Williamson. "Unfortunately, we couldn't keep him on for the full 90 but I'm delighted that Paul played a captain's role."

Williamson also hailed Laurence Wilson, who hauled the Blues level at 2-2 with his second goal of the season.

He added: "He scored a great goal with his right peg which he doesn't do very often to be honest but we are delighted to see it."

Meanwhile, midfielder Dean Bennett has extended his loan spell at Kidderminster until April.
