Wise attempts to tempt Johnson

Mon 07 Jan, 12:01 PM

Dennis Wise has told Northampton's Bradley Johnson that Leeds are "bigger than all the clubs in the Championship" as he weighs up a move. The 20-year-old midfielder sat out Leeds' 3-0 win over the Cobblers on Saturday after the clubs agreed a fee for him but Wise insists that the player - who turned down a move to a Championship club last week - must decide whether he wants to play at Elland Road or not.

Wise said: "It's not quite a done deal. We've agreed a fee with Northampton and what I didn't want, if I'm being honest, is to sit down with the boy's agent, go through all the bits and pieces and then he touts him out to other people.

"I asked him to take a bit of time, have a think about what he wants to do and whether he wants to join Leeds United.

"We're Leeds United Football Club, we get 30,000 crowds and I asked him if he was comfortable playing in front of that. If he is, I'll see him very soon.

"This is a big club if he wants to go somewhere. We're bigger than all the clubs in the championship with our support and our facilities."
