Reading boss Steve Coppell says there is "no scenario" that will see Stephen Hunt leave this month as the Royals prepare to confirm the capture of Marek Matejovsky.
Hunt, who was the subject of a bid from Sunderland, has refused to publicly rule out the prospect of him moving to the Stadium of Light.
However, Coppell insists the Republic of Ireland man will not leave.
Coppell said: "We had one offer from Sunderland and that was insufficient. But he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract and there is no scenario where he will leave in this transfer window.
"I don't expect anyone to go."
Mlada Bolselav midfielder Matejovsky is set to cost £1million and he has flown to England to finalise his move.
Although he refused to talk about Reading specifically, Matejovsky admitted he wanted a move to England.
"I would relish the Premier League. It is one of the best leagues in the world, with matches played in a great atmosphere," he told Sport.
