Reading have completed the signing of midfielder Marek Matejovsky from Czech club Mlada Boleslav.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract after having impressed boss Steve Coppell during a trial at the Berkshire club.
Matejovsky, who has won four caps for the Czech Republic, put pen to paper on the deal in London before heading back to his homeland to announce the move.
"The Premier League is the world's best league," Matejovsky said.
"I know where I am going, and I have already arranged the housing matter.
"I am leaving for England today together with my family. I hope to show I can play football well."
Royals director of football Nicky Hammond said on the club's' official website: "Marek is primarily a central midfield player but he is also capable of playing in both wide positions or behind the strikers.
"He has been playing for a smaller club in the Czech league but he is an established international who is likely to be included in the very strong Czech Republic squad in the Euro 2008 finals.
"He is a player we have been following for some time, and when the opportunity arose to sign him it was too good to turn down."
