Manchester City's hugely wealthy owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has toppled Roman Abramovich to head British football's rich list.
Sheikh Mansour, a member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi, has a personal fortune of £15 billion according to the football rich list, researched and published by FourFourTwo magazine.
The 38-year-old bought City in the summer, while Abramovich, Chelsea's Russian owner, has slipped to third in the list - his wealth is estimated at £7bn and he has been said to have lost over £3bn in the economic downturn.
He has also been overtaken in the list by Lakshmi Mittal, the 58-year-old Indian industrialist worth £12.5bn who joined Formula One's Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore investing in Queen's Park Rangers.
David Beckham remains the richest player associated with British football - his personal fortune of £125m being streets ahead of his closest rivals Michael Owen (£40m) and Wayne Rooney (£35m).
Beckham is 38th in the overall list, while England head coach Fabio Capello is at number 73 worth an estimated £25m with a £6m-a-year contract and a £10m private art collection.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is at number 78 in the list (£22m) and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger at number 92 (£14m).
Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond, the Irish entrepreneur, is the richest person in Scottish football - he is eighth on the list and said to be worth £1.2bn. Rangers chairman Sir David Murray is 19th on the list, worth £600m.
Despite the huge fortunes of the wealthiest owners, football finance experts fear British football's bubble may be about to burst.
Professor Tom Cannon told the magazine: "Season-ticket numbers will probably be down by about 10 per cent but renewals will be down by at least 15 or 20 per cent. That's where the problems will be as you go down the divisions."

I wonder what number I would be on that list?
michael owen,40 million, not bad for a has been crock, what a compleate joke, most of these footballers, wnt to do a month in a factory,in for 7 finish at 4 for 300 a week to see how fortunate they really are
Also remember that these guys pay loads of taxes, beckham would probably have paid more tax in 1year that i would have in my life time, or any of us in our life time. so them earning loads of money helps the tax system. mony money erned is more taxed which means more money for schools hospital etc
All of them "OVER RATTED AND OVER PAID" And the likes of Wayne Rooney being a role model for this generation "SPITING SWEARING AND AGGRESIVE BEHAVOIR IS BEYOND BELIEF" Truly unbelievable
Oh, and no one seems to be bothered about the filthy rich film and pop stars who do even less work. Wonder why that is. It's about supply and demand and footballers supply a demand. Its the best game in the world and the stars of it should be richly rewarded for the effort and endevour they put in to achieve what they do. Its what they provide for which they are paid, not the amount of work they put in. Happens in all walks of life, not just football and entertainment. You should all stop whingin on and go try and achieve something. Then when you have, you can give it all away to the poor and sleep in a cardboard box.
its british footballs richlist why should there be more africans on the list, and why is it the problem of football players to help africa, im sure if there goverments were not so corrupt they would not even need help
so Ronaldo is that poor, is amazing, even with that ballon do'r of a thing and going to real madrid, no wonder he respect and fear wayne ronnie,
sorry Ronaldo you need to work harder, GET RICH OR DIE TRYING!!!!
Well said muteen, most people are just jealous of peoples fame fortune and success. They are the best in the world at what they do and provide great entertainment to billions throughout the world, including putting a smile on the face of and giving a dream to millions of people in all countries, including impoverished ones. Do people think the likes of Diego Maradonna grew up in luxury. How many people in Argentina and the world have enjoyed his success. Doesnt matter what he's done with his life, the fact is he has brought bundles of joy, excitement and hope to millions of sad people. Thats Priceless.
it is good
Disgusting for the amount of real work they put in
WHAT DO THEY DO WIT ALL D MONEY?
Why is there still so much poverty in AFRICA?
lets have more african players on the list
welcome to capitalism ppl. these footballers are the best at what they do thats why they can ask for more money. if you had the chance you would ask for more even at your current job. they do help charitise, its just that not as widly reported as the transfer figuers or contacts, cus that doesnt fill the news paper colums.
So Gerrard is worth more than Ronaldo. Must be all those whores Ronaldo spends his money on!
I hope these all come back in a later life born in Africa

I agree with hak. If I had so much money I would not keep it to myself.
my dear whats the point of having a nigerian in the top ten list if it doesnt profit the country in any way
'...Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is at number 78 in the list (£22million) with an ashtonishing £4million-a-year Hubba Bubba Bubblelicious Chewinggum contract...'
:')
when you think many people are dying of hunger everywhere in the world.
when you think that these footballers, with no brains........ so rich ...
By God grace, A nigerian player will be among the top 10 in the list, come 2010.
