Paul Trollope reckons the trip to Doncaster will provide a measure of how far his Bristol Rovers side have progressed in the past year. The two teams last met on April 1 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final, when Doncaster lifted the silverware with a 3-2 victory after extra-time at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
The Pirates were a League Two side at the time and struggled to adapt to life in a higher division earlier this season, but head to south Yorkshire undefeated in 2008 and on the back of an 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
"They are second in the league and how we do against them will be a good yardstick and a good indication for us of how far we have come," said Trollope. "As players, coaches and fans, these are the kind of games that you want to be involved in.
"We know they are a good side from the Millennium Stadium experience, but this is a different occasion now and for us it is the next game and we want to win it.
"That day seems a long time ago now - this is a fresh challenge and a different type of challenge and it is one we are looking forward to."
