Leicester have been successful in their appeal against Jermaine Beckford's red card received during the 1-0 Championship defeat to Brighton.

Beckford was controversially sent off early in the second half of the game at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

After mistiming a challenge on Lewis Dunk down near the corner flag in the 53rd minute, Beckford tapped the Brighton defender on the back and exchanged words with him.

This led to the referee's assistant flagging furiously and the Foxes striker being shown a straight red card by referee Andy Woolmer, much to the disbelief of the Leicester players.

A statement on the Football Association's official website, thefa.com, read: "Leicester City's Jermaine Beckford has had his claim for wrongful dismissal upheld.

"As a result, the three-match suspension handed to him has been withdrawn with immediate effect."
