Trio back for Villa

Tue, 07 Feb 15:51:58 2012

Aston Villa hope to have a trio of players back available for Sunday's home clash with Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor (back and hamstring), winger Marc Albrighton (thigh) and defender James Collins (calf) all missed Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Newcastle.

But Agbonlahor is making good progress working in tandem with Villa's medical team while Albrighton and Collins are expected to resume training later in the week.

Villa boss Alex McLeish said: "James and Marc will train on Friday while Gabby is making good progress and we're hoping he'll make Sunday as well."

Midfielder Stephen Ireland is also expected to be available after being substituted with an ankle injury against the Magpies.

McLeish said: "I don't think there's too much wrong with Stevie."

  1. he is doing a great job we are not in the bottom 3, we are a small club not a big club like man city, what do you want to sack him for we cant get a good coach we are small. you tell me what great coach will come to this small club we only get problem people give him a extra 2 years on his contract. if we go down we will have a manager for this league plan ahead who would take the job if we go down x player with no idea yes so pay him more by.by

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with him, other than the fact that he gave you a mouthful of abuse back when you blamed him for conceeding the 1st goal against Newcastle.

Apparently (yahoo eurosport failed to comment on this I think) - N'Zogbia 'tweeted' after the match "for the first time, i'm not happy playing football"

Gaining or losing fan support is ONE thing, losing the support of your team is a completely different kettle of fish.

McLeish desperately needs to find a way to get this team playing to their potential for the full 90, not just for 30 minute flashes of what can be.
