Swans Crash To Lions Defeat

Fri 07 Mar, 11:09 PM

Swansea slipped to their first defeat since November after being caught out early in a 2-1 defeat against Millwall.

The lowly Lions had the ball in the net after just 34 seconds when Lewis Grabban's header beat Dorus de Vries in the Dons goal.

They doubled their lead through Jay Simpson in the 69th minute, and although Jason Scotland scored a spotkick two minutes later to reduce the deficit, it was not enough as Millwall held out for victory.

It took 15 minutes for the Swans to register their first attack after the early blow, when a venomous strike from Ferrie Bodde zipped just wide of the post.

They did have a great opportunity 10 minutes into the second half when Lions keeper Rhys Evans saved an Andy Robinson shot with his feet. The ball ran to Darren Pratley who could only scoop the ball over the bar from barely three yards out.

Swansea brought on two additional strikers in an effort to save the game but with Zak Whitbread and Paul Robinson superb at the back for the visitors, it was too little too late.
