Mowbs urges Albion to make him smile

Mon 07 Apr, 03:45 PM

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray will attempt to put his FA Cup disappointment aside as the battle for promotion resumes on Tuesday. The Baggies missed out on a first FA Cup final appearance for 40 years as they were beaten by Portsmouth in Saturday's first semi-final.

Attention now returns to the club's main priority of escaping the Championship and Mowbray admits there is little time to dwell on the excitement and ultimate disappointment of Wembley.

Mowbray's fifth-placed side travel to Blackpool on Tuesday with a chance to move into the top two with a victory.

"Playing with the kids helped me put a smile back on my face," Mowbray told the club's official website, after spending Sunday building a snowman with his son. "My life's really about football and family. My family is always there for me to fall back on after defeats or setbacks.

"If you can't cope with disappointment you shouldn't be in football, especially in this job.

"I'm sure Sir Alex Ferguson will be disappointed after only taking a point in their game yesterday and Arsene Wenger is disappointed with drawing against Liverpool.

"But they've got to get their teams ready for the next game.

"Whatever level you play at, whether it be in League Two or the Conference, you've all got goals and targets and you have to pick your team up and get them ready."

Blackpool will hope to catch West Brom at a low ebb to ease their own fears of relegation.

The Seasiders go into the fixture just four points above the drop zone and have only four more matches after it to secure their Championship status.

Manager Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "We need to get another three or four points to get what we need to stay in this division.

"We are still looking over our shoulders but we are more than capable of putting a few wins together to make sure we are safe. Hopefully that will start with West Brom."
