Gary Johnson admits Bristol City's automatic promotion destiny is no longer in their own hands following defeat against Southampton. The Robins, who have been in the top six all season in their first Championship campaign for eight years, remain top of the table despite their 2-0 loss at St Mary's, but the four sides immediately below can overtake them if they win their games in hand.
Despite no longer being in control of their own fate, Johnson is refusing to give up on finishing inside the top two.
"We need other teams to do us a favour now," said Johnson. "We have to look at what the others are doing, because we are not flying ourselves.
"Others can think we have blown it if they like, but we haven't given up on it. We've said all along that it will probably go down to the last game of the season and we will keep on fighting until the end
"Other clubs have caught up with us but they haven't overtaken us yet. We now need two or three results in our last four games. We are going through our little blip now, just like other teams have gone through theirs. But we have lost games before and come back from defeat."
