Chris Lucketti has revealed how he is juggling caring for his wife with helping Southampton battle against relegation from the Championship. The defender joined Saints last week on loan from Sheffield United and enjoyed an impressive debut in Saturday's 2-0 win over Bristol City which lifted them out of the drop zone.
"The club are flying me down on Thursdays to train Thursday and Friday and play Saturday, and I train at Sheffield Monday and Tuesday," he said.
"I have three kids and my wife has had an operation on her hip so I couldn't commit to seven days a week.
"It was quite a serious operation. She will be on crutches for between 10 and 12 weeks so she is struggling to get around.
"It was a major decision for me to leave her. But to be fair she knew how much I wanted to play football and how disappointed not to this season so she was pushing me as well."
