Barnsley boss Simon Davey has suffered a double blow with the news that Brian Howard and Martin Devaney are out of Wednesday's trip to Watford.Howard suffered an ankle injury during the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Cardiff, while Devaney also sustained a thigh injury at Wembley.

While Devaney could return on Saturday against Preston, Davey revealed that Howard will miss the trip to Deepdale too.

"Brian got a very nasty whack on his ankle in the first half at Wembley but played on. He had five stitches at half-time and has no chance for this week," he told the club's official website.

"Martin pulled his thigh in the second half against Cardiff and was forced off.

"We will have to wait and see for the weekend but he has no chance of making Wednesday's game at Watford."
