Despite their great performance in earning a draw against Manchester United, only one Middlesbrough player makes the cut, and he's not even our Player of the Week...
HOW IT WORKS
We tot up the marks out of 10 awarded in five national newspapers - The Sun, The Mirror, The Mail, The Times and The Guardian - to create a total out of 50. The top player in each position will be rewarded with a spot in the Team of the Week, while the worst scorers will be named and shamed in our Flops XI.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
It was going to take a monumental effort to stop Afonso Alves being crowned Player of the Week - and that's exactly what Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry produced against Bolton. He grabbed two goals and two assists in the demolition of the Trotters. Brazilian striker Alves has to settle for the silver medal after finally opening his Middlesbrough account with his classy double against Manchester United. Barry's fellow Villan Ashley Young is no stranger to Team of the Week, and Luis Antonio Valencia's place is thoroughly deserved after helping boss Steve Bruce get revenge over his former club, Birmingham City. The surprise inclusion of the week is that of a Newcastle defender, with full-back Habib Beye winning the praise of Fleet Street.

While the Villa captain stood head and shoulders above the rest, the blue half of Birmingham cannot be so proud, as City's skipper Damien Johnson did his best Martin Taylor impression with his lunge on Kevin Kilbane and was subsequently sent off. The top four clubs are also well represented, with Carlos Tevez, John Arne Riise and Justin Hoyte all featuring.
