Page eyes promotion with Spireites

Wed 07 May, 04:00 PM

Chesterfield's new signing Robert Page is setting his standards high as he targets promotion with the League Two club next season. The 33-year-old is set to join the Spireites when the short-term contract he agreed at Huddersfield in January expires in a few weeks' time.

Page believes the disappointment of missing out on the play-offs this season can be immediately remedied next term, and feels that the club's ambitions to soon be playing Championship football are not out of reach.

"I want promotion straight away. I want to play in games and be winning and I want to go up," Page told the club's official website. "Hopefully starting this season with promotion, then establishing ourselves in League One and then hopefully getting out of there eventually as well.

"I like where manager Lee Richardson wants to take the club. There is interest with the new stadium being built and that is part of something I want to be involved in.

"Lee has told me what his ambitions are for this club and if I can a part of that then brilliant. I wouldn't have come to the club if it didn't have ambition."
