Director Geoff Dunford has confirmed that Bristol Rovers have increased their offer to groundshare with Cheltenham by £500 per game.Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker revealed on Tuesday that his club had secured an improved deal after Rovers broke an initial agreement made between the two clubs last summer and opened fresh talks with Swindon and Yeovil in an attempt to broker a better deal for themselves.
Those moves were eventually scuppered and Rovers were forced to return to their original plan of relocating to Whaddon Road for the next two seasons while their Memorial Stadium home undergoes a £30million-plus redevelopment.
"We are happy with the deal we have struck. We are paying £500 per game more than our initial agreement of 12 months ago, but this deal now includes all pitch maintenance costs for pre-season and the season proper," Dunford told Rovers' official website.
"The deal also includes the cleaning of the stadium after our games and we have reached an agreement of a profit share of dry and wet sales at Whaddon Road, which we did not agree in our previous discussions.
"We now know that Whaddon Road is our fans' preferred venue, which was not obvious when we first made a tentative agreement with Cheltenham."
