Swansea have revealed that defender Alan Tate and midfielder Shaun MacDonald have both signed new long-term deals at the Liberty Stadium.The duo were due to be out of contract in the summer, but boss Roberto Martinez has persuaded them to remain at the Liberty Stadium for the foreseeable future.Tate, the club's vice-captain, has been influential in guiding the Swans to the League One title this season, while MacDonald, 19, is tipped for a bright future at the club.
"It's been a very important campaign for Shaun, even though he hasn't been in the limelight like some of the other players," Swans boss Roberto Martinez told the club's official website.
"He's made huge progress behind the scenes; development which was clearly evident in the last 20 minutes he played at Brighton on Saturday.
"I think people forget sometimes that he is still only 19. He has a bright future ahead of him and we are delighted that future will be with Swansea City."
Former Old Trafford trainee Tate has has played a key role in Swansea's campaign and this has certainly not gone unnoticed by Martinez.
He added: "Alan is one of those players who has been through every emotion possible with the club and is part of a core of players who know exactly what it takes to play for Swansea City.
"He's worked very hard to play Championship football and we are delighted he'll be doing that with SwanseaCity".
