Manchester City insist that under-fire manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will be attending the club's end-of-season tour of the Far East despite rumours that the club have offered Luiz Felipe Scolari his job.

Speculation has mounted that Eriksson will be out of a job come the summer, as owner Thaksin Shinawatra is unsatisfied that the Swede has failed to bring European football to Eastlands in his first season.

Many club sources, including Eriksson's assistant Tord Grip, have hinted that the club will be looking for a new manager soon, with Portugal manager Scolari favourite to take up the role, something the club have yet to comment on.

The Brazilian coach, who turned down the chance to become Eriksson's successor as England manager in 2006, has reportedly been offered a £3 million-a-year deal by City but will not leave Portugal until after Euro 2008.

A source close to the Brazilian is reported to have said: "It is very unlikely that Scolari makes any decision now, one month ahead of the championship."

Manchester City spokesman Paul Tyrell said: "The media speculation does not affect the visit. Mr Eriksson will be attending.

"(The club) have made no comment about the manager's future. Dr Thaksin has stated there will be a full review at the end of the season."

Eriksson has steered City to a top-half finish in his first season after the club had flirted with relegation in recent times, and he confirmed that his future would be decided after the final match of the season against Middlesbrough.

Eriksson said: "Speculation is in football, whether it is to do with managers, players, business or politics, is always there today.

"All I want to see is another City win at Middlesbrough next Sunday then it is time for talking."

City's tour begins on May 14th when they arrive in Shinawatra's home country of Thailand to open a club store before playing a friendly against Thailand Premier All-Stars three days later.

They will then travel to Hong Kong for a match with a South China Invitation XI on May 22nd.
