The 26-year-old has agreed a long-term, performance-related contract with the Championship outfit.

His deal at the Scottish First Division outfit expires next week and he will now undergo a medical before finalising his move to the Liberty Stadium.

Dobbie told Queens' official website: "I'm sad to leave Queen of the South as I felt I'd struck up a good bond with the fans those past two-and-a-half years. However, it's an offer I just couldn't refuse.

"I'd like to say a big thank-you to the manager, the players, coaching staff at Palmerston and I'll never forget my time there."

The former Rangers trainee found the net 24 times this season, finishing as the top scorer in the whole of the Scottish Football League.
